Features: This book is the new short story creation of Liu Qingbang, known as "China's Chekhov." The works in Liu Qingbang's stories depict the life of the rural coal mines in Henan, written with authenticity and shocking depth. At night, I dream of the scenes from my childhood in the rural hometown of Henan more often. When publishing this book, I compared the stories with my dreams, and I was surprised to find that many of my novel stories are based on my childhood memories. Some stories, though heard from other places, pass through my heart and transform into my novels. The characters, their environments, and the tone of their speech all bear the imprint of my hometown. It seems that childhood and regional influences are decisive for an author, just as we cannot freely control or change our dreams. The dreams we create with novels are also inseparable from the environment in which we grew up. During the growth period, memory seems to be in an absorbing phase, and after it passes, memories become fainter. This is perhaps our fate. —Liu Qingbang
