Features: After the birth of the new comic strip format in the United States in 1895, a global comic strip fever emerged. This worldwide comic strip craze began to spread to China in the 1920s. In the early 1930s, Shanghai saw the appearance of foreign comic strip collections featuring wool spinning, followed by several publications that reprinted foreign comic strips. For example, in 1934, the renowned Chinese cartoonist Zhang Guangyu selected and compiled the classic Swedish comic strip Adamson by cartoonist Oscar Jacobson into 100 sets in one comic book (translated as Humorous Weekly and World Comics at the time). Upon the introduction of foreign comic strips, Chinese readers showed immense interest, and various publications quickly began retranslating them. Among them, the West Wind Monthly (founded in 1963) is particularly representative. Each issue of the magazine reprinted one or two outstanding European and American comic strips, leaving a deep impression on readers. This comic strip collection compiles foreign comic strips reprinted from some old magazines in the 1930s and 1940s. These works possess high artistic quality and reflect the distinctive characteristics of foreign comic strips at that time, offering readers rich and beneficial spiritual enjoyment.
