To help students better understand and master the ancient Chinese poems and classical prose required by the Curriculum Standards and the "Examination Specifications," Peking University's Yan Yuan has carefully designed and launched the New Curriculum Standard Reading Series with its unique philosophy, including "70 Poems Every Primary School Student Must Recite," "50 Poems and Classical Prose Every Junior High School Student Must Recite," and "40 Poems and Classical Prose Every High School Student Must Recite." In the compilation process, we have carefully considered and selected original versions of various influential ancient Chinese poems and classical prose from across the country, carefully comparing and selecting a large number of outstanding works to delight readers. In terms of content design, we have conscientiously followed principles and fully considered the psychological needs and cognitive characteristics of students at different age levels, focusing on making it convenient for students to memorize and understand. We emphasize guidance from renowned teachers and poetry appreciation, with annotations that are simple, clear, and rich in cultural and historical knowledge. In the primary school stage, we have designed some lively and engaging questions to make it enjoyable and easy for children to recite, while also inspiring them to think independently.
