Features: The "Olympic Subject Competitions for Primary and Secondary Schools" series consists of over 200 varieties, including textbook series, introductory textbooks, practice papers, mock exam papers, intensive textbooks, classic problem-solving series, weekly tests, question compilations, and multi-solution series. This series is organized by the Editorial Department of Primary and Secondary School Subject Olympiads and is a research outcome of the Beijing Step-by-Step Quality Education Research Institute. Since its publication by the Olympic Press, it has stood out and is deeply loved by teachers, parents, and students. After significant revisions, re-editions, or complete rewrites, it has been renamed "Gold Medal Olympiads" and "Gold Medal Schools," and is now re-published and distributed by Jinghua Publishing House. On this occasion of the re-publication, sincere gratitude is extended to millions of readers across the country.
Primary and Secondary School Subject Olympiads (referred to as "Subject Olympiads") are one of China's most extensive, widely participated, and influential subject competition activities for primary and secondary school students. Subject Olympiads are inspired by and derived from the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), the International Physics Olympiad (IPHO), the International Chemistry Olympiad (ICHO), and other internationally influential secondary school subject competitions that attract millions of young students every year. The reason for such widespread attention lies in the strong innovation, flexibility, and comprehensiveness of Olympiads, as well as their focus on cultivating students' exploration skills and inspiring their innovative awareness. These are precisely the core elements of quality education, which are also essential for future development.
Based on years of in-depth research on this activity and a large number of outstanding books in this category, the Editorial Department of Primary and Secondary School Subject Olympiads has invited outstanding educators dedicated to this field from across the country to compile and publish a series of books on mathematics, Chinese, English, physics, chemistry, biology, and information technology—comprising over 200 varieties. In terms of variety, quantity, and quality, our Olympiad books are among the most influential in the domestic and international markets and hold the greatest appeal in the hearts of primary and secondary school teachers and students.
The purpose and characteristics of the "Gold Medal Olympiads" and "Gold Medal Schools" series are as follows:
1. High: Derived from textbooks but exceeding them. Derived from textbooks means referencing the latest [curriculum standards] issued by the Ministry of Education; exceeding them means closely aligning with competition syllabi at all levels, ensuring comprehensive alignment in content, question types, and skill requirements, thereby fostering interest, developing intelligence, and enhancing abilities.
2. Accurate: Scientifically precise and well-structured. Each book is designed according to the characteristics of the subject, scientifically organized, and follows a progressive approach, providing in-depth yet accessible analysis and comprehensive problem-solving methods.
3. Innovative: Features novel and engaging question types. It compiles the essence of recent Olympiad, middle school, and high school exam questions from both China and abroad, representing the highest level of current Olympiad standards and reflecting new concepts in curriculum reform, as well as innovative ideas, methods, and trends in competition question-setting.
4. Refined: Selects exemplary problems that are challenging yet logical, flexible, and achievable. Emphasizes the ability to generalize from specific examples and apply knowledge to different contexts; focuses on multi-solution, multi-variable, and multi-question approaches; and prioritizes the training of thinking skills over rote memorization, making learning an enjoyable interest and hobby.
5. Renowned: Assembles top educators and highlights prestigious competitions. The Editorial Department of Primary and Secondary School Subject Olympiads has invited distinguished professors from top universities, elite teachers from key secondary schools, senior teachers, subject leaders, and renowned Olympic medal coaches to contribute to the series.
