Can cervical cysts be relieved?

Patient's question:

Last week, I had a health check-up at my workplace and was found to have cervical cysts. The doctor asked me to go back to the hospital for further evaluation and treatment. What exactly are cervical cysts, and can they be relieved?

Doctor's answer:

Cervical glandular cyst, also known as Nabothian cyst, is formed during the healing process of cervical erosion when newly formed squamous epithelium undergoes excessive fibrosis, blocking the cervical glandular ducts. This prevents the secretion within the glands from draining out, leading to its accumulation within the glands and the formation of cysts of varying sizes. These cysts are generally small and concentrated, appearing weak on the surface of the cervix and blue-white in color. If secondary infection occurs, they may appear as yellowish small cysts.
A pharmaceutical approach to alleviating cervical cysts involves a method of drug erosion, primarily using silver nitrate or potassium dichromate solutions. However, these two drugs have strong corrosive effects and are not the most effective methods for treating cervical cysts.
