Mary Poppins cheerfully strode toward the door that flashed in the air. She came to the other door and opened it. The children gasped in astonishment, for they had expected the wall blocking her to be completely gone. On the other side of Mary Poppins' blue figure, there was nothing but a sky and a night. Mary Poppins suddenly opened her parrot umbrella, gripped its handle tightly, and soared over the treetops, flying higher and higher with it. A glowing figure rose upward, getting taller every minute. It seemed to gather all the sparks and flames of the hearth within itself, shining like a spotlight in the cold, dark sky.
