Journal of History is the authoritative historical academic journal of the People's Republic of China, enjoying high reputation both domestically and internationally. Some of its articles have been translated and introduced abroad by Social Sciences in China. Journal of History was founded in 1954, one of the earliest philosophy and social science journals established after the founding of the People's Republic of China. In half a century, Journal of History has published approximately 4,000 articles, collectively representing and reflecting the achievements of several generations of historians in the new China. Its authors range from the renowned giants of the historical scholarship, such as Guo Moruo, who had already gained fame in the mid-20th century, to the emerging scholars who have only begun to shine in the new century, embodying the highest level and evolutionary trajectory of Chinese historical studies over the past fifty years. Therefore, in the context of the development and evolution of academic history, the fifty years of Journal of History can be seen as a microcosm of the development of historical scholarship in the new China. To this end, we have compiled this series of books to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the founding of Journal of History.
