Features: To adapt to the rapid development of Chinese legal education in the 21st century and meet its practical needs, this series of "21st Century University Legal Textbooks" has been compiled by experts and scholars from various higher education institutions in China, at the invitation of Legal Press. The textbooks are guided by Marxism, Mao Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory, and the Important Thought of the Three Represents. They incorporate the latest research findings from domestic and international legal textbooks, adhere to the principle of linking theory with practice, and maintain reform, development, and innovation. We believe that the publication of this series of textbooks will greatly promote and advance legal education, research, and judicial practice. To better meet the needs of international law teaching and research, some teachers from the Department of Public Law at Dalian Maritime University have compiled this textbook on international law. Based on Marxist legal theory, this book draws on the latest research findings from the field of law both domestically and internationally, aiming to provide a relatively accurate and scientific exposition of the basic knowledge, fundamental theories of international law, and some important practical issues in the current international relations. The main features of this book are:
1. Scientificity of Concepts. The definitions of all concepts in the book not only clearly define their connotations and extensions but also accurately reveal their characteristics in international law. Additionally, they are accompanied by in-depth legal analysis, providing a scientific legal theoretical foundation.
2. Unity of General and Specific Theories. The fundamental theories and basic principles of international law elaborated in the general theory are explicitly and specifically reflected in the specific theories. The general theory focuses on expounding the general theories of international law and its universal principles, while the specific theories, guided by this framework, consistently maintain a legal perspective to specifically reveal the concepts, characteristics, and unique principles of each legal department. Although this generalization and presentation may not be entirely accurate, it represents a valuable attempt to achieve the unification of theory and practice.
3. Practicality of the Textbook. This book fully considers the needs of teaching, ensuring that all issues are not only clearly concluded but also emphasize clarity in structure, relevance in theory, and accessibility in language expression.
