The first volume was published in 1983, the second in 1985, and the third in 1997.
Since its publication, "Flora of China" has garnered widespread acclaim and high praise from readers both domestically and internationally, consistently regarded as a masterpiece representing the highest level of tree research in China. Currently, the second volume is out of print. To meet the readers' expectations, China Forestry Publishing House has decided to reprint the first and second volumes. Due to the differences in publishing regulations between the past and present, the following clarifications are provided:
1. The names of countries, regions, and Chinese geographical locations mentioned in the book reflect the names used at the time and should be updated to their current equivalents. For example, "Czechoslovakia" corresponds to "Czech" and "Slovakia," "USSR" to "the former USSR," "Guangdong Hainan Island" to "Hainan," and "Sichuan Chongqing" to "Chongqing Municipality."
2. Measurement units should be converted according to current standards. For instance, "jin" should be converted to "kilograms," "calories" to "joules," and "mu" to "hectares."
3. For percentage ranges, the number before the dash should be followed by a percentage sign. For example, "10–20%" should be written as "10%~20%."
4. Commas used as thousand separators in numbers with four or more digits are now omitted. For example, "3,600 meters" should be written as "3600 meters."
5. The character "" in terms like "citrus" and "blueberry" should be replaced with "."
