Baquan Tourism Area, Xinxiang City

Baquan Tourism Area is located in the northwest of Huixian City, Xinxiang City, Henan Province. It is a national 5A-level tourist attraction with a total area of 110 square kilometers. The scenic area is situated at the southern foot of the Taihang Mountains, with an average altitude of 1,150 meters and a forest coverage rate of over 95%. It is a typical canyon ecological tourism area. Baquan is characterized by "emerald waters and red mountains, secluded valleys and flying waterfalls" and is known as the "Little Jiuzhaigou of Central China," integrating mountain and water landscapes, geological wonders, and cultural landscapes.

History and Culture

Baquan has a long history and profound cultural heritage. According to research, human activity took place here as early as the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods. The ancient plank road ruins in the scenic area bear witness to ancient commercial travel and military activities. During the Ming and Qing dynasties, Baquan became a Buddhist holy site, and multiple temple ruins and cliff inscriptions still remain.

Baquan is also an old revolutionary base area. During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, it was an important activity area for the Eighth Route Army. Red tourism sites such as the ruins of the Eighth Route Army rear hospital are preserved in the scenic area, recording the heroic deeds of the revolutionary forebears.

Main Attractions

Baquan Lake

The core attraction of the scenic area, with a water area of 200,000 square meters and a maximum depth of 50 meters. The lake water is crystal clear and emerald green, surrounded by mountains, with beautiful scenery. Visitors can take sightseeing boats on the lake and enjoy the bizarre peaks and rocks on both banks.

Feilong Waterfall

A cascading waterfall with a drop of 180 meters, magnificent in momentum, like a white dragon soaring. The waterfall falls in three tiers, with roaring water and pervasive mist. Rainbows often appear under sunlight, making it an ideal location for photography enthusiasts.

Emerald Pool

Named for its emerald-green water, the pool covers about 2,000 square meters with an average depth of 8 meters. The water is crystal clear, and fish and pebbles at the bottom can be seen. Surrounded by cliffs, the environment is tranquil.


Red Stone Gorge

A canyon about 3 kilometers long, named Red Stone Gorge because the cliffs on both sides are red. Inside the gorge, streams murmur, grotesque rocks abound, and vegetation is dense. The negative oxygen ion content is extremely high, making it a natural oxygen bar.


Glass Observation Deck

A suspended observation platform built on a cliff, with an area of 300 square meters and a vertical height of 200 meters from the valley floor. Standing on the transparent glass platform, visitors can enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view of the canyon and experience thrill and excitement.


Ancient Plank Road Ruins

Well-preserved ancient plank road remains, about 1 kilometer long, with some sections carved into cliff faces, demonstrating the wisdom and courage of ancient laborers.


Recommended Tour Route:

Recommended one-day tour route: In the morning, take the sightseeing bus to Baquan Lake and take a boat tour to enjoy the lake and mountain scenery; then walk to visit Feilong Waterfall and Emerald Pool; have lunch at a farmhouse restaurant in the scenic area; in the afternoon, experience the Glass Observation Deck and hike through Red Stone Gorge. Visitors with sufficient time can stay overnight in the scenic area and experience the night view of the Taihang Mountains.

Summer is the best season for visiting, offering summer heat relief

It is recommended to wear slip-resistant hiking shoes, as some sections are quite slippery

The temperature difference within the scenic area is large, so it is recommended to bring a jacket

The waterfall scenery is most spectacular during the rainy season

Reserve at least 5-6 hours for visiting; for an in-depth tour, 1-2 days are recommended

Mountain weather is changeable; please check the weather forecast in advance

The area near the waterfall is slippery; please do not approach dangerous areas

High heels are prohibited on the glass observation deck

Smoking is prohibited in the scenic area; please observe fire prevention regulations

Transportation:

Self-driving: Depart from downtown Xinxiang, drive north along the Jinxin Expressway for about 60 kilometers, exit at Huixian, and follow the signs for about 40 minutes to arrive

Bus: Take the Xinxiang-Baquan tourist shuttle bus at Xinxiang East Bus Station, which goes directly to the scenic area

High-speed rail: Take the high-speed rail to Xinxiang East Station, then transfer to a bus or taxi to the scenic area (about 70 kilometers)

Opening Hours:

The scenic area is open year-round. Daily opening hours are 7:30-18:00 (peak season, April 1-October 31) and 8:00-17:30 (off-season, November 1-next year March 31). Ticket sales stop one hour before closing at each attraction in the scenic area.

Baquan Grand Canyon: 108 yuan/person (including sightseeing bus). Baquan Cliff World: 190 yuan/person (including sightseeing bus cableway).
