Features: Myth is a product of ancient people's fantasy and imagination about the origin of the universe, the birth of humans, the deeds of gods or heroes, and the history of their nation. The Monster on Crete tells the story of the hero Theseus. Theseus means "buried treasure." From a young age, Theseus lived with his mother in a small mountain village. On his eighteenth birthday, Theseus learned that the King of Athens, Aegeus, was his biological father, so he went to Athens to find his father. On the way to Athens, Theseus encountered the evil old man Procrustes, who was accustomed to detaining travelers alone in his home, tying their hands and feet when they were asleep, and then, compared to the bed, if the traveler was too tall, Procrustes would cut off their lower limbs; if they were too short, he would cruelly stretch them until they died. Nowadays, people often use "Procrustes' bed" to, subjective. Theseus cleverly killed Procrustes and arrived in Athens safely. There, Theseus learned that Athens had to sacrifice seven boys and seven girls every year to feed a monster called the Minotaur. Theseus bravely volunteered as one of the seven boys and set off for Crete. The Minotaur was imprisoned in the labyrinth of Crete. The labyrinth was intricate, and once someone entered it by mistake, they could never escape. However, the daughter of the King of Crete, Ariadne, fell in love with Theseus and secretly gave him a sword and a ball of thread. Theseus tied one end of the thread to the entrance of the labyrinth and successfully killed the Minotaur with his sword, then followed the thread back and escaped the labyrinth safely. Theseus saved the young men and young women of Athens and embarked on the journey home together. Unfortunately, Theseus forgot the agreement he made with his father and did not change the black sail of the ship to white. King Aegeus, thinking his son was lost forever, threw himself into the sea, which was then named the Aegean Sea. Later, Theseus became the King of Athens and was beloved by the people. Every country and nation has its own myths. It is hoped that everyone can enjoy the artistic beauty of this beautiful and sorrowful Greek myth.
