Features: Alberto Moravia (1907-1990) is one of the most famous contemporary novelists of Italy. During his six decades of creative career, he published numerous long novels and short story collections. With a realistic writing style, he touched the depths of people's hearts through ordinary stories happening around them. His works have had a significant impact on both the Italian literary and the world literary. This anthology, edited by the Italian literature scholar Professor Lu Tongliu, includes five of Moravia's most outstanding works: "The Indifferent Ones," written in the late 1920s, is considered the world's first existentialist work that Moravia unintentionally wrote. Through the story of a bourgeois family over three days, it exposes the profound indifference of the Italian bourgeoisie at the time. "The Women of Chiosia," written just after World War II, is recognized as one of the most outstanding post-war novels in Italy. Through the experience of a mother and daughter seeking refuge during the war, it reveals the suffering brought to ordinary people by war, especially the devastation of their souls. The protagonist of "Disdain," Morainti, aspires to be a playwright. To win his wife's love, he writes movie scripts against his will for a film producer, seeking money to satisfy his wife's material desires. When he fulfills her desires, he discovers that she no longer loves him. The novel portrays the alienation of people in Western society from a certain perspective. The long novel "Caution" is a work with a unique technique. According to the words of the characters in the book, the true protagonist is not the protagonist of the novel but the protagonist "I," who has been writing and preparing to use as future material for a novel in a diary. Through extensive psychological descriptions and various events—both real and fictional—recorded in the diary by the protagonist "I"—the work explores the concept of "original sin." The short story collection "Unwillingness" contains forty-one works. Characters of different identities and statuses are unwillingly doing things they do not want to, for reasons they themselves do not understand. Through them, the author portrays the confusion and perplexity felt by people in modern Western society, as well as the distortion of their spiritual state. Alberto Moravia is one of the most famous contemporary novelists of Italy. This book includes five of Moravia's most outstanding novel works: "The Indifferent Ones," "The Women of Chiosia," "Disdain," "Caution," and "Unwillingness."
