Features: The past decade has witnessed fundamental changes in learning theory throughout human history, marking the dawn of a new era in creating learning science. A revolution that will thoroughly transform the theory and methods of human learning has emerged. How People Learn was a project led by the Learning Science Development Committee of the Board on Behavioral, Social, and Educational Sciences at the National Research Council, funded by the National Academy of Sciences and the U.S. Department of Education. It involved 16 internationally renowned learning research experts and professors from over 10 universities and research institutions in the United States. Building on existing learning research, the project leveraged new advancements in learning science to conduct multidimensional research on human learning, which took two years to complete and was finally published in the form of a book. A key focus of the project was expertise. The Learning Research Committee emphasized the importance of understanding experts' professional knowledge, as it allows us to gain insights into the nature of thinking and problem-solving.
