The three siblings in this book initially, just like us, didn’t believe magic could exist in modern industrial society. Until they fell into a hole and entered an exceptionally beautiful garden, saw towering white towers and castles reaching into the blue sky, they were still debating whether magic existed. Their views were unified after seeing the treasure room of Sleeping Beauty: this was indeed a magical castle, and the princess was truly a princess. But soon, this belief was shattered—the princess was actually the niece of the castle’s steward, and the so-called magic was merely a game played by the fake princess. Reading this is truly disheartening; it turns out that magic is just a trick. Fortunately, the author leaves a hint of suspense—Mabel, the so-called princess earlier, has become invisible at midnight. Since both the princess and magic are fake, what is going on here?
As you continue reading, an endless stream of bizarre events will leave you amazed. Everyone’s invisibility time varies when wearing the rings, and when invisible, their family members unconsciously distance themselves from them; the dummy made of blankets and a ball stick comes to life and injures the new steward of the castle; Jimmy instantly grows into an adult and no longer recognizes his siblings; Mabel grows to be 12 feet tall and can only crawl around the house; Catherine turns into a statue but comes back to life as a stone body when night falls.
You keep telling yourself that there is no magic, but these strange events and their repeated reinforcement make you marvel and envy, wishing you could experience it firsthand.
