Features: This series of books is written by experienced teachers who have been engaged in teaching and question-setting research for university English proficiency tests for many years. It has been reviewed by experts and can effectively help candidates prepare for the exam. The book provides a comprehensive and in-depth analysis of the test points from aspects such as grammar, error identification, reading comprehension, cloze test, and English-Chinese translation. It summarizes the problem-solving techniques for each type of question, enabling candidates to gain a thorough and systematic understanding of the exam. After reading this book, candidates will find it easy to solve problems. The Beijing Adult Higher Education Bachelor's Degree English Proficiency Test (referred to as the Unified Adult English Proficiency Test) is one of the necessary conditions for adult higher education undergraduate (non-foreign language) students to obtain a bachelor's degree. Since 1991, Beijing has administered this exam continuously for 14 times. Due to the increasing number of candidates each year, the Beijing Municipal Education Commission decided in 2003 to change the exam from an annual single session to two sessions per year, held in April and November respectively. To meet the needs of candidates, only a limited number of relevant teaching materials have been published so far. Some of these books have overly thin content or appear slightly outdated, failing to meet the preparation needs of the growing number of candidates. For most candidates, passing the Bachelor's Degree English Proficiency Test is not an easy task, and they urgently need a comprehensive and systematic teaching series that can help them improve their vocabulary, grammar, reading, and translation skills. The "Bachelor's Degree English Proficiency Test Guidance Series" edited by Yu Ying from the English Department of Peking University was created in response to this demand. This guidance series is a summary of the editors' dedicated work in teaching the Bachelor's Degree English Proficiency Test. It is not only comprehensive, rich in content, and detailed in explanations but also features distinctive characteristics and remarkable effectiveness, making it truly a valuable book for readers. This series is compiled according to the new syllabus requirements of 2003, with clever and innovative content organization that closely meets the needs of candidates to a great extent. For example, the grammar section is "concise yet detailed," covering all the frequently tested grammar points comprehensively and providing insightful explanations from a fresh perspective, unlike general "all-encompassing" grammar books. In the vocabulary section, the author does not follow the old writing format but organizes the most frequently appearing words in the exam into memory groups by part of speech, making it easier for candidates to overcome vocabulary challenges through associative learning based on similar meanings or forms. Additionally, many teaching materials only provide answers to exercises without explanations, whereas all the exercises in this series are accompanied by detailed, thorough, and accurate explanations. This not only facilitates self-study and self-assessment for candidates but also helps them achieve the learning effect of "generalizing from the specific" and "learning by analogy." It is also worth mentioning that this series reflects the authors' unique problem-solving methods and techniques for question types such as grammar, error identification, reading comprehension, and translation in the Bachelor's Degree English Proficiency Test. It is a crystallization of the authors' years of teaching and exam preparation experience, resembling an excellent "classroom lecture." If candidates thoroughly master the key points of this book, their exam scores will undoubtedly improve significantly. At the moment when this series is about to be published, I am very happy to write the preface for it. In conclusion, I wish all candidates to benefit greatly from this series.
