Features: This collection includes 24 essays, 5 notes and essays, and 12 prefaces. When these articles were included in this collection, in addition to the necessary textual corrections and standardized annotations, no changes were made to the content. These articles were published over a span of 25 years, and when addressing the same issue, there may be some repetition, and the emphasis and depth of the arguments may also vary. The texts included in this collection are divided into seven groups. Group 1 includes 5 papers selected from studies on late Qing thought, reform, and revolutionary movements. Group 2 includes 5 papers selected from studies on the history of thought and cultural history. Group 3 features four papers on Sun Yat-sen. Group 4 includes one paper on Kang Youwei, two papers on Liang Qichao, and one paper on Fu Sinian. Group 5 consists of six articles all about Hu Shih. Group 6 includes several notes, essays, and one lecture, which might be slightly lighter to read than the aforementioned long essays. Group 7 is selected from prefaces written over the past decade for friends' works. Each piece is quite short but manages to explore one or two important ideas.
