Features: The development of academic endeavors is like the Yangtze River and Yellow River, with waves succeeding one another, endless and flowing. It is also like the passing of the torch, with each generation inheriting and carrying forward the achievements and experiences of the past, making the brilliance ever brighter. Later scholars must understand the work already done by their predecessors, inherit their accomplishments and experiences, and build upon them to move forward. The Academic Committee of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences has gathered dozens of senior experts from dozens of disciplines within our institution. They have decades of research experience in their respective fields and have made significant contributions in their areas of expertise. The published series features representative works selected by each expert from their academic careers, bringing them together for publication. This not only showcases their diligent and dedicated academic paths but also reflects the achievements and developments in various fields of philosophy and social sciences in China over the past few decades, especially since the reform and opening-up. It is a highly meaningful endeavor. The author has long studied the history of literature and the history of philosophy, but ultimately, his focus has been on modern Chinese history and the history of the Republic of China. In addition to monographs and small books, he has written over two hundred academic articles and published several collections. This book selects thirty or so articles on modern history that have already been published, dedicated to readers who are interested in this field.
