Features: The surface area of the Earth is approximately 5.1 billion square kilometers, of which the land area is about 1.49 billion square kilometers, accounting for about 29% of the total area. The entire land is composed of seven continents. Asia, Africa, Europe, and Oceania are mainly in the Eastern Hemisphere; North America and South America are in the Western Hemisphere; Antarctica is mostly within the Antarctic Circle and is surrounded by the Pacific, Atlantic, and Indian Oceans; Oceania is located between Asia, South America, North America, and Antarctica, and is surrounded by the Pacific and Indian Oceans. Asia and Europe are collectively referred to as the Eurasian continent, bounded by the Ural Mountains, the Ural River, and the Greater Caucasus Mountains; Asia and Africa are separated by the Suez Canal; North America and South America are collectively known as the Americas, separated by the Panama Canal. We traditionally refer to the Americas south of the United States as Latin America, as most of the countries and regions there belong to the Latin language family. We also traditionally refer to Oceania as Australia.
