It faithfully and objectively records the progress of our Party, nation, and people. The main source of this book is the Xinhua Monthly magazine, and it also references other published or released books, journals, and documents. It includes events, conferences, documents, speeches, policies, regulations, and other significant occurrences with a nationwide or international impact from October 1949, the founding of the People's Republic of China, to August 2004, as well as obituaries of prominent figures. The entries are arranged in chronological order by year, month, and day. For entries without a specific date, the reporting time of Xinhua News Agency or newspapers is used. Entries with only a month but no specific date are generally placed at the end of the month. When multiple entries occur on the same date, only the time is stated at the beginning of the entry, with subsequent entries marked with a "△" to indicate the same date. Most laws and regulations are annotated with their date of promulgation and implementation, facilitating reader reference.
