Features: The Beijing Siheyuan, this residential form meticulously created by ancient laborers, has accompanied people in their livelihoods for hundreds of years, leaving a profound impression and a rich legacy in people's minds and in history. Today, we have compiled this album on Beijing Siheyuans, attempting to introduce them briefly and help people further understand their history, recognize their valuable historical, scientific, and cultural heritage value, and thus better inherit our nation's precious cultural legacy and promote the fine traditional Chinese culture. The fame of Beijing's Siheyuans also lies in their unique structure, making them typical and representative in traditional Chinese residential architecture. Most Chinese residential buildings are courtyard-style homes. In southern China, the courtyards are small, with surrounding houses connected in a single structure, known as the "One Seal" style. This type of residence is suitable for the climate of the south but lacks ideal ventilation and lighting. In contrast, Beijing's Siheyuans feature spacious and open courtyards, with each of the four sides having independent houses connected by corridors, providing convenient living arrangements. The Siheyuan is a closed residential structure with only one street gate, creating a self-contained world when the doors are shut, offering strong privacy and being highly suitable for exclusive living. All four sides of the houses face the courtyard, where a family can live harmoniously and joyfully together. Due to the spacious courtyard, residents can plant trees and flowers, raise birds and fish, and arrange rocks for artistic effect. In addition to enjoying comfortable housing, they can also share a beautiful natural environment bestowed by nature.
