Features: The term "xingdi" refers to the order of a person within their clan according to the traditional Chinese system of lineage ranking. During the Tang and Song dynasties, it was common to use the surname combined with xingdi instead of a person's given name. This book imitates the method of The Register of Tang Dynasty Xingdi and compiles the verifiable xingdi of Song Dynasty figures into a single volume, filling a gap in the study of Song Dynasty literature and history. The Register is based on the collected works of Song Dynasty poets and writers, most of which were initially printed from the Wenyuan Pavilion edition of the Siku Quanshu (Four Treasuries) published by the Commercial Press in Taiwan. Whenever possible, other editions were used for collation, verification, and supplementation, so the versions of these collected works are based on the collated texts. For cases where the collated texts lack information but the Siku Quanshu edition contains it, or where the Siku Quanshu edition is preferred, the notes provide explanations. Similar to collected works of poetry and prose, collections of lyrics, general anthologies, notes and miscellanies, inscriptions on paintings and calligraphy, and local gazetteers with literary critiques are included. For those works with multiple versions, only one is selected based on different circumstances, so the Bibliography generally lists only one version for each work. Exceptions are noted in the notes or other sections.
