Features: With the continuous improvement of socio-economic levels, design plays an increasingly significant role in people's lives. Transportation design, environmental art design, fashion design, graphic design, and many others are just a few examples. However, becoming an outstanding designer and excelling in one's professional field is not an easy task. Among these, the study of fundamental design principles is an indispensable and crucial component. The purpose of this book is to serve design students who need to build a solid foundation in design, as well as candidates preparing to take exams for design-related programs. The book stands out with its unique features. Most books in this category only cover basic theories and design element exercises, whereas this one not only explains these theories and exercises but also uses numerous examples to demonstrate how they are applied in design practice, their effectiveness, and includes detailed critiques of works. This addresses the common issue of students not knowing how to apply design fundamentals or how disconnected basic learning is from practical design work. Most faculty members and graduate students from our School of Design have been involved in the writing of design fundamentals for many years. With years of teaching experience, most of them have studied at renowned domestic institutions such as the Central Academy of Fine Arts and Tongji University, possessing both strong theoretical foundations and extensive practical experience. They form a dynamic team. This series of fundamental design principles compiles their years of teaching and research achievements.
