Features: Extracurricular reading is an important way for middle school students to obtain information, understand society, and develop their thinking. The newly revised "Full-Time Compulsory Education Chinese Curriculum Standards" has incorporated extracurricular reading into the curriculum objectives, making clear requirements for teaching strategies and the total amount of reading. A student's ability in extracurricular reading reflects their comprehensive language learning competence. In recent years' college entrance examinations, the assessment of extracurricular reading ability has been placed in a highly important position. Therefore, how to improve middle school students' extracurricular reading ability has become an urgent issue in current Chinese language learning. To provide junior high school students with representative and high-quality reading exercises that effectively enhance their reading analysis skills, we have compiled this series of selected extracurricular reading materials, divided into three books: Grade 7, Grade 8, and Grade 9, catering to the teaching focuses and requirements of different grades. In the selection process, we emphasize choosing representative question types, especially the new question types from recent years' junior high school entrance examinations, to help teachers and students stay updated on the latest changes in extracurricular reading question formats. We sincerely hope that this series of books will contribute to improving middle school students' extracurricular reading ability.
