Features: In the 1980s, multinational corporations (MNCs) introduced advanced products, equipment, and other hardware to China by transferring technology through product sales. In the 1990s, they introduced modern corporate systems to China by establishing large-scale manufacturing enterprises. In the new century, they introduced new corporate concepts to China by strengthening corporate responsibility. By introducing corporate hardware, systems, and concepts, MNCs have become a positive factor in China's sustainable development. How to further leverage the positive role of MNCs in China's sustainable development is an extremely important issue for deepening reform and expanding opening-up in the future. — Wang Zhile
On the eve of the third anniversary of China's entry into the WTO, we completed the writing of the 2005 Report on Multinational Corporations in China. This is the fourth consecutive year that the Multinational Corporation Research Center has compiled the report on MNCs in China. At the same time, this report is also a research outcome of the National Natural Science Foundation of China key project "Multinational Corporations' Strategies in China and Chinese Enterprises' Countermeasures" (Project No.: 70132001). This book collects research reports on foreign investment and the development of MNCs written by six renowned scholars. These reports explore the new trends in the operations and development of MNCs from multiple perspectives and demonstrate the positive role of MNCs in China's economic and social development. At the same time, these reports also study the development of MNCs in China and issues in China's foreign investment work, proposing several important policy recommendations. Unlike the annual reports of the previous three years, this book collects research reports from six industries. The authors of these reports have long been engaged in industry economic research. Their reports are well-reasoned and highly compelling. By reading these reports, we can clearly understand the significant changes that have occurred in these industries over the past three years. Eighteen renowned multinational corporations participated in the writing of this report. These companies introduced new ideas, strategies, and developments in their China operations. From these company cases, we can learn about the evolution of MNCs' strategies and management systems in China in recent years. It is worth mentioning that this book has been updated with investment data from the world's top 500 companies in China. The updated data provides a practical resource for researchers of multinational corporations.
