Features: The new curriculum standards have significantly reduced the difficulty in assessing students' knowledge points. The new examination reform has placed greater emphasis on the process of assessing and evaluating students' mastery of knowledge and their thinking abilities. In other words, in the college entrance exams (Gaokao) and high school entrance exams (Zhongkao), the scoring criteria no longer simply evaluate the correctness of the answers but rather focus on the standardization and completeness of the problem-solving process, awarding points based on the steps taken. This change in the evaluation system undoubtedly presents new challenges for our teaching and preparation: How can teachers cultivate students' thinking abilities and the habit of solving problems in a standardized and complete manner? How can students learn and master the methods of solving problems in a standardized and complete way? To meet this demand, we have organized a team of distinguished senior and advanced teachers from renowned middle schools across the country to write this series of "New Question" (New Question Companions).
The compilation basis of the series:
1. The series fully incorporates the latest achievements in curriculum and examination reforms, is based on the new curriculum standards of the People's Education Press, and is synchronized with the knowledge points of the textbooks, fully reflecting the spirit of the new curriculum standards.
2. It is practical and firmly follows the direction of examination question setting and scoring principles. The series creates a substantial number of new and flexible questions based on the key, difficult, and exam-relevant points in teaching. It rigorously selects and analyzes classic questions from the past five years of Gaokao and Zhongkao across various provinces and cities, providing teachers with a question bank for teaching and students with a model for learning and mastering standardized problem-solving methods.
3. Based on the subjects examined in Gaokao and Zhongkao, we have first published the "Chinese Problem-Solving Companions," "Mathematics Problem-Solving Companions," "English Problem-Solving Companions," "Physics Problem-Solving Companions," "Chemistry Problem-Solving Companions," "Physics Experiment Problem-Solving Companions," and "Chemistry Experiment Problem-Solving Companions," covering all key subjects in Gaokao and Zhongkao.
The basic features of the series:
1. Organized according to the knowledge points of the textbooks, linking the knowledge system with classic problem-solving formats. In terms of usage, it reflects the characteristics of a quick-reference tool.
2. Fully incorporates the strengths of similar books, refining and innovating: whether in the design of the question pages or the selection of question types, it reflects the vibrant characteristics of the times; whether in the analysis of problem-solving approaches or the arrangement of each step, it reflects precise and targeted compilation principles.
3. A standardized, normative, and complete problem-solving process not only accurately analyzes key, difficult, and high-frequency exam points but also enables students to learn problem-solving methods and techniques, helping them achieve: "Step-by-step stability, step-by-step accuracy." Even when facing difficult, flexible, or comprehensive questions, they can still score high. The "Caution" section helps students avoid potential pitfalls in their thinking and problem-solving processes.
The functions and usage methods of the series:
The series, with its standardized, normative, complete, and accurate problem-solving processes, possesses excellent qualities as a learning toolbook. For teachers, guiding students on specific learning issues is not difficult. However, what students truly need is systematic, comprehensive, and continuous guidance. Only by doing so can they leverage their initiative and strengths to "learn by themselves," mastering methods, acquiring knowledge, and achieving progress. This series can provide such a platform for both teachers and students. It is also an excellent question bank and an important teaching reference material.
For students, especially those at medium and above-average levels, improving scores—even by 3 to 5 points—requires long-term effort. Most often, they lose points not because they lack knowledge but because their problem-solving steps are incomplete or non-standard. The "New Question" can help students enhance this ability.
For parents, it is challenging to assist children in middle school, making the cultivation of their self-learning ability particularly important. The "New Question" has excellent toolbook qualities, and children can achieve twice the result with half the effort simply by reading it. In reality, an excellent teaching guidebook is a powerful tool for learning. Used correctly and consistently, it not only helps students overcome many learning difficulties but also cultivates lifelong beneficial learning habits and thinking methods.
