Features: The "Olympic Subject Competitions for Primary and Secondary Schools" series consists of over 200 varieties, including textbook series, introductory textbooks, practice papers, mock exam papers, intensive textbooks, classic problem-solving series, weekly tests, question compilations, and multi-solution series. This series is organized by the Editorial Department of Primary and Secondary School Subject Olympiads and is a research outcome of the Beijing Step-by-Step Quality Education Research Institute. Since its publication by the Olympic Press, it has stood out uniquely and is deeply loved by teachers, parents, and students. After significant revisions, re-editions, or complete rewrites, it has been renamed as "Golden Medal Olympiads" and "Golden Medal Schools," and is now re-published and distributed by Jinghua Publishing House. On this occasion of the re-publication, sincere thanks are extended to millions of readers across the country.
Primary and Secondary School Subject Olympiads (abbreviated as Subject Olympiads) are a subject competition activity for primary and secondary school students in China that covers the widest scope, attracts the largest number of participants, and has the greatest influence. Subject Olympiads are derived from and extended from the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), the International Physics Olympiad (IPHO), the International Chemistry Olympiad (ICHO), and other internationally influential middle school subject competitions that attract millions of young students every year. The reason for such widespread attention lies in the strong creativity, flexibility, and comprehensiveness of Olympiads, as well as their focus on cultivating students' exploration skills and inspiring their innovative awareness. These are precisely the core elements of quality education, which are also essential for future development.
Based on years of careful study of this activity both domestically and internationally, as well as a large number of outstanding books in this category, the Editorial Department of Primary and Secondary School Subject Olympiads has invited outstanding educators dedicated to this field from all over the country to write and publish a series of books on mathematics, Chinese, English, physics, chemistry, biology, and information technology—comprising over 200 varieties. In terms of the variety, quantity, and quality of our subject Olympiad books, they are considered the most influential among peers both domestically and internationally and hold the greatest charm in the hearts of primary and secondary school teachers and students.
The writing purpose and characteristics of the "Golden Medal Olympiads" and "Golden Medal Schools" series are as follows:
High: Derived from textbooks but also surpassing them. Derived from textbooks means referencing the latest [curriculum standards] of the Ministry of Education; surpassing textbooks means closely aligning with competition syllabi at all levels, ensuring comprehensive alignment in content, question types, and ability requirements, thereby fostering interest, developing intelligence, and enhancing skills.
Accurate: Scientifically precise and structurally rational. Each book is designed with discipline-specific layers, scientifically organized, and follows a step-by-step principle, offering in-depth yet accessible analysis and comprehensive, detailed problem-solving methods.
Innovative: The questions selected are novel, unique, and highly engaging. They gather the essence of recent Olympiad, middle school, and high school exam questions from both domestically and internationally, representing the highest level of current Olympiads and reflecting new concepts in curriculum reform, as well as new ideas, methods, and trends in competition question-setting.
Refined: Carefully selected examples are challenging yet not obscure, flexible, and achievable. The focus is on generalization and cross-application; multi-solution, multi-variable, and multi-question approaches are emphasized; and emphasis is placed on training thinking skills rather than rote memorization, making learning an interest and hobby.
Renowned: A gathering of famous teachers and a collection of famous competitions. The Editorial Department of Primary and Secondary School Subject Olympiads has invited distinguished professors from prestigious universities, special-grade teachers, senior teachers, discipline leaders, and renowned Olympiad gold medal coaches to co-author these books.
