Features: Most middle school students start learning English by studying textbooks, but not many truly master and excel in them. The main focus is often on memorizing vocabulary, analyzing key and difficult points, and doing a large number of exercises and test questions, while neglecting to learn the English language itself through extensive reading of the text. This approach misses the mark, ultimately resulting in poor practical English application skills and a general lack of proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. This is a common misconception in English learning. English textbooks are systematically and comprehensively written, making them the best material for middle school students to learn English. Experience has proven that reading the text thoroughly, earnestly, and repeatedly is an effective method for learning English. However, it is essential to fully understand the pronunciation, word meaning, and sentence meaning of every word and sentence in the text, firmly grasp them, accurately comprehend the entire passage, and then repeatedly read it until it becomes second nature, forming a sense of language. In this way, practical English skills such as listening, speaking, reading, and writing will naturally improve, and even difficult problems encountered in exams will be easily solved. Moreover, memorizing words and understanding grammar within the overall linguistic context of the text is far more effective than learning them in isolation from the context. Therefore, middle school students greatly need a book that provides detailed and comprehensive annotations, translations, and explanations for English textbooks.
To address this situation, we have organized experienced teachers to create this book based on the new curriculum standards, closely following the People's Education Press's Experimental Textbook for Compulsory Education English Curriculum Standards. The book provides direct annotations, translations, and explanations for the phonetic symbols and word meanings of most words in the text, as well as translations for every sentence and phrases for some sentences. It also includes reference answers to the exercises in the textbook. With this book, students can overcome learning obstacles, save time and effort by avoiding the need to constantly look up dictionaries or grammar books, and make the process of reading the text more enjoyable and effortless. By doing so repeatedly and earnestly, they can thoroughly master the textbook, build a solid foundation, and improve their English skills. The effect is particularly significant for middle school students in the foundational stage.
