At the University – At just thirteen, the seamstress Leroe is invited to a dance school ball. Her extraordinary beauty and elegance stun everyone, and the young Philip falls into a frenzied obsession with her. From then on, Leroe frequently attends balls. Another apprentice carpenter, Christoph, who shares her social standing, also deeply loves her. A rift arises between the two friends, Philip and Christoph, leading to a fight on the ice. Because Philip is the "noble young master," Leroe maintains a distant and ambiguous relationship with him, gradually pulling away. Years later, Philip, Christoph, and Leroe meet again in Heidelberg. Leroe continues to attend balls, and her fate, filled with twists and turns, reaches its climax.
