Features: "The Essence of Beijing Cultural Relics" - Ceramics Volume, divided into two parts. The first part covers ceramics before the Yuan Dynasty, while the second part, except for one Yuan Dynasty artificial glaze sancai dragon and phoenix pattern incense burner, consists of porcelain from the Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties. The two volumes together include 99 ceramic pieces and 364 porcelain pieces. This volume is the first part of "The Essence of Beijing Cultural Relics" - Ceramics Volume, selecting ceramics before the Yuan Dynasty, primarily featuring collections from the Capital Museum. It also includes selected masterpieces with historical, artistic, and scientific value from institutions such as the Beijing Cultural Relics Research Institute, Beijing Art Museum, Dabao Han Tomb Museum, Beijing Liao-Jin City Wall Museum, and the Great Wall Museum of China. This volume selects ceramics, including outstanding pieces unearthed in Beijing over the years, as well as a selection of high-quality inherited pieces. Among them, 122 unearthed ceramic pieces and 71 inherited ceramic pieces are included. The ceramic pieces selected in this volume are arranged in chronological order into five parts: Neolithic Age, Xia, Shang, and Zhou Dynasties, Han, Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties, Sui, Tang, Five Dynasties, and Liao-Jin. Each part is further divided into two categories: ceramics and porcelain, which are then arranged in chronological order. The porcelain selected from the Sui, Tang, Liao, Song, and Jin dynasties, with the exception of those whose kiln origins are currently undetermined, are generally prefixed with the name of the kiln in front of the artifacts.
