Features: This book is the concluding outcome of a sub-project titled "Personality Criminal Law" under the "Peking University's Plan for Building a World-Class University." The research on personality criminal law is both forward-looking and cutting-edge, yet it also presents significant challenges and risks. The book employs an interdisciplinary research methodology, integrating criminology, personality psychology, criminal policy, criminal law, prison law, and criminal procedure law, as well as empirical methods, such as on-site investigations into the personality traits of prison inmates, to explore personality criminal law. The book proposes the thesis that personality criminal law is the result of the evolution of modern criminal law perspectives and an inevitable choice for the 21st century. It argues that the criminal is the starting point and endpoint of criminal science research, and that the personality of criminal risk is the essential characteristic that distinguishes criminals from normal individuals. Furthermore, based on the findings of actual investigations, the book provides a detailed discussion on the types and measurement methods of the personality of criminal risk. Building on domestic and international research, the book focuses on narrowing the criminal sphere and enhancing the effectiveness of punishment, while incorporating China's practical realities, to design a more thoughtful approach to the criminalization of personality, i.e., how to introduce the personality of the criminal into the mechanisms of conviction, sentencing, and execution. Personality criminal law will transform the rigid and impersonal face of traditional criminal law, making it more humanized and humane.
