Features: Zhu Xiang (1904—1933.12.5), styled Zi Yuan, was originally from Anhui and was born in Yuanling, Hunan. His parents passed away at an early age. In 1919, he was admitted to Tsinghua School and joined the Tsinghua Literary Society organized by Liang Shiqiu and Wen Yiduo. In 1922, he joined the Literary Research Association and published five new poems in The Story Magazine that year. In 1925, he published his first poetry collection, Summer. In 1926, he launched his own publication, New Literature, which only featured his own writings and translated poems, and was self-published. Due to financial difficulties, it only lasted for two issues. His second poetry collection, Wild Grass, was published in 1937. From September 1927 to September 1929, he studied abroad in the United States. After returning, his life became unstable, and he struggled to find a job, while family conflicts also intensified. During this period, he taught at the Department of Foreign Languages, Anhui University, but had conflicts with the school. On December 5, 1933, he jumped into the clear waters from a passenger ship traveling from Shanghai to Nanjing and took his own life.
