The "Essentials of Far East Corporate Credit Rating Report 2005" is about to be published. At this time, we express our gratitude to the employees who work hard at Far East Credit Rating, to the leaders of the People's Bank of China and its Shanghai branch, as well as the Shanghai Credit Management Office, who have always supported the development of credit rating, and to all friends who support the credit rating industry!
The "Far East Corporate Credit Rating Report Essentials" has been published for five consecutive years, playing an important role in providing credit risk early warning and control parameters for financial institutions and investors, offering financial product pricing parameters, and guiding the development of China's credit rating industry. In 2005, while adhering to the basic ideas and spirit of the previous essentials, and in response to changes in market needs and the development of rating theory and technology, the framework and content of the essentials were appropriately adjusted and enriched. The goal is to establish a new credit rating framework based on macroeconomic operation and industry credit risk assessment, striving to make credit rating more scientific, objective, and fair, and to enhance the credibility of China's credit rating.
In the 2005 rating essentials, a combination of interpolation and extrapolation methods was adopted, and through rigorous quantitative derivation, the analysis of credit risk in Shanghai enterprises was elevated to credit risk analysis across different industries, with credit risk coefficients provided for each industry. Strictly following the path of the development of China's credit rating industry and respecting its history and reality, the expected default probabilities for different credit ratings from 1999 to 2004 were anticipated, and the changes in ratings for different industries over five consecutive years were analyzed in a logical, quantitative, and realistic manner. A comprehensive analysis of credit risk was conducted for industries and banks of different natures.
Although these analyses are based on the credit risks of a limited number of enterprises, they still yield some general, conclusive, and risk-related parameters, providing data support for policy choices by commercial banks and regulatory authorities, as well as for investment decisions by investors.
