Features: Gongbi coloring is one of the main expressive techniques in traditional painting. Gongbi flowers are created based on white-line drawings of flowers, reconstructing them according to the color relationships of different parts of the subject. Due to the different pigments used, there are differences between light and heavy colors. Works primarily using mineral pigments are considered heavy colors, while those primarily using vegetable pigments are light colors. However, in most current works, there is no absolute boundary between heavy and light colors, and they are often combined. The general process of Gongbi coloring is as follows: first, white-line drawing for shaping; second, rendering for underpainting; third, overpainting for coloring; fourth, carving to reveal texture; and finally, adjustment for completion. This book includes twelve complete color drafts and five examples of rendering processes for flowers, hoping that beginners will carefully observe them.
