Features: Liu Bocheng (1892—1986), originally named Liu Mingzhao, was from Kaixing County, Sichuan. In October 1911, when the Xinhai Revolution broke out, he joined the student army in Wanning, Sichuan, thus beginning his long 70-year military career. In the spring of 1912, Liu Bocheng enrolled in the Chongqing Military Officer Academy. By the end of the year, he graduated early and was assigned as a probationary platoon leader in the 5th Division of Sichuan Army, joining the "Second Revolution" against Yuan Shikai. In the midst of the battle, Liu Bocheng was promoted to the rank of company commander for his meritorious service.
Deng Xiaoping, originally named Deng Xiansheng, was born on August 22, 1904, in Pailiang Village, Xiefeng Township, Guang'an County, Sichuan Province. In 1911, he received private tutor education and then attended a modern primary school, using the name Deng Xixian. In 1920, he went to France for study and work. He studied at the Bains in France. In 1924, he joined the Communist Party of China and served as the leader of the European Youth League branch. In 1927, he married Zhang Xiyuan in Shanghai and changed his name to Deng Xiaoping, also serving as the Secretary-General of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China the same year. In 1931, his wife Zhang Xiyuan died in Shanghai due to childbirth complications. In August, he was appointed as the of Ruijin County in the Communist Party of China.
