Features: After the Opium War, imperialists occupied Chinese ports and prohibited fishermen from going out to sea to fish. The fishermen were filled with grievances. An old fisherman, driven by livelihood, risked crossing the blockade on a stormy night to go fishing. He fished all night but caught no fish, only a white marble fish pot painted with a fishing boy. Disappointed, the old fisherman returned home and placed the fish pot on the table. At midnight, the painted fishing boy jumped out of the pot and used a fishing rod to cast into the pot, transforming it into many large pearls. When the fisherman woke up, he was greatly astonished and knew it was a treasure. The next day, he sold the pearls in the market, dreaming of using the money to build a new fishing boat in the future. However, this secret was discovered by a foreign missionary. He wanted to seize the fish pot and colluded with the government to bring the fisherman to court. The foreign missionary twisted the facts and falsely claimed that the fish pot was his. The local official, singing in harmony with the foreigner, forced the fisherman to return the fish pot to the foreign missionary. Enraged, the fisherman sternly condemned them, and to prevent the fish pot from falling into the hands of foreigners, he publicly shattered it in court. At this moment, a miracle occurred—the fishing boy on the fish pot jumped out again. He swung his fishing rod and caused chaos in court, throwing the foreign missionary into the sea. This story of "The Fishing Boy" was adapted into an animated film by Shanghai Animation Film Studio in 1959, deeply influencing the youth of New China.
