Features: The German cartoonist Lu Braun illustrated Father and Son. I feel that there are many themes about father-son relationships in our lives, so I drew The Spring and Autumn of Father and Son to reflect the affection between father and son, as well as the emotional conflicts in their love. It was published in the Cartoon magazine in 1956 and 1958. Mr. Zhang Leping (1910–1992) created a vast number of artworks over nearly seventy years of his career, including cartoons, New Year pictures, sketches, pencil drawings, watercolors, paper-cuttings, and traditional Chinese paintings. Among these, cartoons are most famous, and among cartoons, serial cartoons are most famous. Among serial cartoons, Sanmao is the most famous, and among Sanmao serial cartoons, Sanmao Joins the Army and Sanmao on the Road are the most famous. The 16-page hardcover Complete Collection of Zhang Leping's Serial Cartoons published by Yilin Press is divided into four volumes, featuring all of Mr. Zhang Leping's serial cartoons in his lifetime. Since two-thirds of these works are serial cartoons featuring Sanmao, and the Sanmao character is widely recognized, all four volumes are named after Sanmao. Sanmao's New Life collects eleven works, including Weekly Comics, The Life of Hu Da, The Spring and Autumn of Father and Son, Our Story, Sanmao's Diary, Sanmao Learns from Lei Feng, Sanmao and Sports, Sanmao's Travel Diary, Sanmao Learns the Law, Sanmao Loves Science, and Old Age Comes, and is titled Sanmao's New Life.
