Since its publication by the Olympic Press, it has stood out and is deeply loved by teachers, parents, and students. After significant revisions, re-editions, or rewrites, it has been renamed "Golden Medal Olympiad" and "Golden Medal School" series and is now re-published and distributed by Jinghua Publishing House. On this occasion of the re-publication, sincere thanks are extended to millions of readers across the country.
Primary and secondary school subject Olympiads (referred to as "subject Olympiads") are one of China's most extensive, widely participated, and influential subject competition activities for primary and secondary school students. Subject Olympiads are derived from and extended from the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), the International Physics Olympiad (IPHO), the International Chemistry Olympiad (ICHO), and other internationally influential subject competitions for secondary school students, which attract millions of young students every year. The reason for such attention lies in the strong innovation, flexibility, and comprehensiveness of Olympiads, as well as their focus on cultivating students' exploration skills and inspiring their innovative awareness—qualities that are at the core of quality education. This is also what future development requires.
Based on years of in-depth research on this activity both domestically and internationally, as well as a large number of outstanding books in this category, the Editorial Department of Primary and Secondary School Subject Olympiads has invited outstanding educators dedicated to this field from all over the country to compile and publish a series of books on mathematics, Chinese, English, physics, chemistry, biology, and information technology—seven major subjects—comprising over 200 varieties of Olympiad materials. In terms of the variety, quantity, and quality of our Olympiad books, we are considered the most influential in our field both domestically and internationally, and are the most appealing to primary and secondary school teachers and students.
The purpose and characteristics of the "Golden Medal Olympiad" and "Golden Medal School" series are as follows:
1. High: Derived from textbooks but higher than textbooks. Derived from textbooks means it is written in accordance with the new [curriculum standards] of the Ministry of Education; higher than textbooks means it is closely aligned with the competition syllabi of various levels, ensuring comprehensive alignment in content, question types, and ability requirements, thereby fostering interest, developing intelligence, and enhancing skills.
2. Accurate: Scientifically accurate, with a well-structured design. Each book is designed according to the characteristics of the subject, scientifically organized, and follows a progressive approach, offering in-depth yet accessible analysis and detailed problem-solving methods.
3. New: The questions selected are novel, unique, and highly engaging. They gather the essence of recent Olympiad, middle school, and high school exam questions from both China and abroad, representing the highest level of current Olympiads and reflecting new concepts in curriculum reform, as well as new ideas, methods, and trends in competition question-setting.
4. Refined: Carefully selected examples, challenging yet not obscure, flexible, and achievable. The focus is on learning from one example to understand many, and on multi-solution, multi-variable, and multi-question approaches to one problem. It emphasizes training thinking skills rather than rote memorization, making learning an interest and hobby.
5. Renowned: A gathering of famous teachers and a collection of famous competitions. The Editorial Department of Primary and Secondary School Subject Olympiads has invited distinguished professors from prestigious universities, special-grade teachers, senior teachers, subject leaders, and renowned Olympic medal coaches to co-author these books.
