This series is organized by the Editorial Department of Primary and Secondary School Subject Olympiads and is a research outcome of Beijing Step-by-Step Quality Education Research Institute. Since its publication by the Olympic Press, it has stood out and is deeply loved by teachers, parents, and students. After significant revisions, re-editions, or rewrites, it has been renamed as "Golden Medal Olympiad" and "Golden Medal School" series and is now re-published and distributed by Jinghua Publishing House. At this re-publication, sincere gratitude is extended to millions of readers across the country. Primary and Secondary School Subject Olympiads (abbreviated as Subject Olympiads) are one of the most extensive, widely participated, and influential subject competition activities for primary and secondary school students in China. Subject Olympiads are derived from and extended from the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), the International Physics Olympiad (IPHO), the International Chemistry Olympiad (ICHO), and other internationally influential middle school subject competitions that attract millions of young students every year. The reason for such attention lies in the strong innovation, flexibility, and comprehensiveness of Olympiads, as well as their focus on cultivating students' exploration skills and inspiring their innovative awareness—qualities that are at the core of quality education. This is also the need for future development. Based on years of careful research on this activity and a large number of outstanding books in this category, the Editorial Department of Primary and Secondary School Subject Olympiads has invited outstanding educators dedicated to this field from all over the country to write and publish a series of books on mathematics, Chinese, English, physics, chemistry, biology, and information technology—covering seven subjects and totaling over 200 varieties. In terms of the variety, quantity, and quality of our Olympiad books, they are considered the most influential among peers both domestically and internationally, and are the most appealing to primary and secondary school teachers and students. The writing purpose and characteristics of the "Golden Medal Olympiad" and "Golden Medal School" series are as follows:
1. High: Derived from textbooks but higher than textbooks. Derived from textbooks means it is written in accordance with the new [curriculum standards] of the Ministry of Education, while being higher than textbooks means it closely aligns with the competition syllabi of various levels, ensuring comprehensive alignment in content, question types, and ability requirements. It aims to cultivate interest, develop intelligence, and enhance abilities.
2. Accurate: Scientifically accurate and well-structured. Each book is designed according to the characteristics of the subject, scientifically organized, and follows a step-by-step approach to provide in-depth yet accessible analysis and detailed problem-solving methods.
3. New: The questions are novel, unique, and engaging. They gather the essence of recent Olympiad, middle school, and high school exam questions from both China and abroad, representing the highest level of current Olympiads and reflecting new concepts in curriculum reform, as well as new ideas, methods, and trends in competition question-setting.
4. Refined: Selected examples are challenging yet not obscure, flexible, and achievable. The focus is on generalizing from one example to many, and on multi-solution, multi-variable, and multi-question approaches. It emphasizes training thinking skills rather than rote memorization, making learning an interest and hobby.
5. Renowned: Gathered by famous teachers and collected from famous competitions. The Editorial Department of Primary and Secondary School Subject Olympiads has invited renowned professors, special-grade teachers, senior teachers, subject leaders, and famous Olympic medal coaches to co-author these books.
