On this occasion of the re-publication, sincere thanks are extended to millions of readers across the country.
Primary and Secondary School Subject Olympiads (abbreviated as Subject Olympiads) are a subject competition activity for primary and secondary school students in China that covers the widest scope, attracts the largest number of participants, and has the greatest influence. Subject Olympiads are derived from the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), the International Physics Olympiad (IPHO), the International Chemistry Olympiad (ICHO), and other internationally influential middle school subject competitions that attract millions of young students every year. The reason for such widespread attention lies in the strong innovation, flexibility, and comprehensiveness of Olympiads, as well as their focus on cultivating students' exploration skills and inspiring their innovative awareness—qualities that are precisely at the core of quality education. This is also the need for future development.
Based on years of careful research into this activity both domestically and internationally, as well as a large number of outstanding books in this category, the Editorial Department of Primary and Secondary School Subject Olympiads has invited outstanding educators dedicated to this field from all over the country to compile and publish a series of books on mathematics, Chinese, English, physics, chemistry, biology, and information technology—comprising over 200 varieties. In terms of the variety, quantity, and quality of our Olympiad books, we are considered the most influential in our field both domestically and internationally, and are the most appealing to primary and secondary school teachers and students.
The purpose and characteristics of the "Golden Medal Olympiads" and "Golden Medal Schools" series are as follows:
High: Derived from textbooks but higher than textbooks. Derived from textbooks means it is written in accordance with the new [curriculum standards] of the Ministry of Education; higher than textbooks means it is closely aligned with the competition syllabi of various levels, ensuring comprehensive alignment in content, question types, and ability requirements, thereby fostering interest, developing intelligence, and enhancing skills.
Accurate: Scientifically accurate and well-structured. Each book is designed according to the characteristics of the subject, scientifically arranged, and follows a progressive principle, providing in-depth yet accessible analysis and teaching comprehensive and detailed problem-solving methods.
New: The questions selected are novel, unique, and highly engaging. They gather the essence of recent Olympiad, middle school, and high school exam questions from both China and abroad, representing the highest level of current Olympiads and reflecting new concepts in curriculum reform, as well as new ideas, methods, and trends in competition question-setting.
Refined: Selected examples are challenging yet not obscure, flexible, and achievable. The focus is on generalizing from one example to many, and on multi-solution, multi-variable, and multi-question approaches. It emphasizes training thinking skills rather than rote memorization, making learning an interest and hobby.
Renowned: A gathering of famous teachers and a collection of famous competitions. The Editorial Department of Primary and Secondary School Subject Olympiads has invited distinguished professors from prestigious universities, special-grade teachers, senior teachers, subject leaders, and renowned Olympic medal coaches to contribute to the writing.
