Features: The painting school of the Eight (Eight Eccentrics) of Yangzhou originated in the late years of the Kangxi reign and ended in the early years of the Qianlong reign, spanning the reigns of Kangxi, Yongzheng, Qianlong, and Jiaqing. Its longevity and profound influence were unprecedented in the history of Qing Dynasty painting. Current research on the Eight Eccentrics of Yangzhou primarily focuses on the period before the 30th year of the Qianlong reign, which we refer to as the Pre-Yangzhou Eight Eccentrics period. Studies on the emergence of the Eight Eccentrics and their artistic achievements during this period, as well as case studies, have yielded remarkable results and have become a significant field of research. However, the Eight Eccentrics did not end with the 30th year of the Qianlong reign. Among them was a relatively young artist, Luo Pin, who extended the artistic legacy of the Eight Eccentrics of Yangzhou for another thirty years.
