Features: The New Concept English (New Edition) is the first new version released since its initial publication in 1967. Now, authorized exclusively by the publisher of the classic textbook, Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press, and Pearson Education Publishing North Asia Co., Ltd., this series of The New Concept English (New Edition) supplementary books is personally edited by Professor He Qixin, the original compiler, with Mr. Alexander serving as an advisor. Covering various aspects such as self-study guides, exercise explanations, vocabulary, grammar, and audio practice, this authoritative supplementary series is designed for English enthusiasts in China. Check the accompanying audio tapes. Check the accompanying Chinese explanation VCD. Now, teachers should replay the recordings or reread the texts, pausing after each sentence to check if students understand. This is a very important part of classroom teaching because, by the time the text is introduced, students should have a thorough understanding of it. Teachers should not explain directly but should instead try to elicit information from students (this method can be seen as the "plunger plan"). All explanations should be in English, but do not take the direct method to an absurdly absolute degree. Use gestures and simulated actions whenever possible. If some students in the class still fail to understand, the teacher should ask the best student in class to provide a translation for a word or phrase, to help those who have not yet grasped the meaning. Remember, if you do not translate a difficult point into Chinese, someone else in the class will. However, translation should always be considered a last resort.

Key Structures: The Future Continuous
a. Shall and will are used with be + verb-ing to form the future continuous tense. A parallel can be drawn between the present and future continuous forms to show the progressive aspect of the action: I am writing letters now (in progress at the moment). I shall be writing letters all day tomorrow (in progress tomorrow).
b. The main use of the future continuous is to express a future without intention. In "I'll come to your house tomorrow," the verb expresses a deliberate intention (or promise) to come, but "I'll be coming to your house tomorrow" expresses no intention (simple prediction).
