Features: If one's life journey is a song, then joy, sorrow, happiness, and sadness, birth and death, are the indispensable melodies. The richness and enduring nature of these melodies are the eternal pursuit of humanity. As human civilization advances and society progresses, people have increasingly focused on their health. However, despite the rapid development of medical science, effective drugs and methods for treating many chronic diseases remain elusive. Therefore, finding alternative treatments beyond medication has become particularly important. It can be said that delaying or blocking the progression of chronic diseases is the best form of treatment, and dietary therapy and lifestyle adjustments are among the simplest, most effective, and essential methods. Since the time of Shennong tasting a hundred herbs, our ancestors have embarked on a relentless pursuit of health and longevity. "Food is the foundation of life," "health leads to longevity," and "substances can benefit or harm people" reflect the simple yet profound dietary and health philosophies of our ancestors. The Chinese nation has always placed great importance on the consumption and preparation of food, not only using it for health preservation but also for treating diseases. The belief that "medicinal and edible substances share the same origin, principles, and applications" is deeply rooted, with the saying "" (dietary therapy is better than medicinal therapy) widely held. For thousands of years, Chinese medical practitioners across generations have placed great emphasis on the development, research, and application of food for disease prevention, longevity, physical strength, and beauty, accumulating vast knowledge and experience, forming a tremendous treasure trove. To thoroughly explore this rich heritage and integrate it with the outstanding achievements of modern medicine for the benefit of the people and humanity at large, while meeting readers' pursuit of scientific dietary views and healthy eating methods, and answering the questions of patients and those with special nutritional needs—how to choose food and how to utilize it to meet both health requirements and the enjoyment of delicious meals—Tianjin Science and Technology Press has planned the "Chinese Dietary Therapy Wonders: Recipes and Delicacies" series. They invited me to serve as the chief editor and recruited influential experts from across the country to participate in content design and writing. The series currently includes: "High Blood Pressure Family Recipes," "High Cholesterol Family Recipes," "Obesity Family Recipes," "Kidney Disease Family Recipes," "Diabetes Family Recipes," "Gastrointestinal Disease Family Recipes," "Liver and Gallbladder Disease Family Recipes," "Pregnant Women Family Recipes," "Postpartum and Lactating Women Family Recipes," "Women's Beauty and Health Family Recipes," and "Men's Strength and Fitness Family Recipes." This series draws inspiration from ancient wisdom, incorporating the classic heritage of traditional Chinese medicine, while (rooted in modernity), leveraging the outstanding achievements of modern science. It combines ancient and modern knowledge, discerning the characteristics and effects of various dietary types. Each volume explains the nutritional and health knowledge for specific diseases or special physiological conditions in an easy-to-understand manner. It provides detailed introductions to the ingredients, preparation methods, nutritional content, nutritional features, and precautions of various dietary types, such as staple foods, dishes, medicinal diets, medicinal soups, medicinal porridge, and medicinal teas, offering readers a wealth of simple-to-make, nutritious, and delicious recipe options. Adhering to the principle of selecting diets based on syndrome differentiation, the series meticulously categorizes the causes and symptoms of various diseases and lists corresponding dietary options to help readers practice targeted eating. With reverence for the medicine and dietary culture of our motherland and a deep appreciation for human life, we have completed this series. We hope that its publication will contribute, however modestly, to the inheritance of the five thousand years of Chinese medical and dietary culture and the improvement of human life quality.
