Features: This book is based on the third revised edition of Physical Chemistry published in 1979, with adjustments and additions made in reference to the current status of physical chemistry courses in Chinese institutions in recent years. The book focuses on explaining fundamental concepts and theories, while also introducing some content related to the development trends of the discipline to meet the needs of different readers. Each chapter includes reference for further reading to expand the depth and breadth of the textbook content. To help readers consolidate their knowledge and improve problem-solving skills, as well as facilitate self-study, the book incorporates numerous examples and exercises, with answers provided at the end. The book adopts the Legal Metrology Units of the People's Republic of China based on the International System of Units (SI) and the symbols specified in national standards (GB). The book is divided into two volumes. The first volume covers chapters such as thermodynamic laws, the second law of thermodynamics, fundamentals of statistical thermodynamics, solutions, phase equilibrium, and chemical equilibrium. The second volume covers chapters such as electrolyte solutions, reversible cell electromotive force and its applications, electrolysis and polarization, fundamentals of chemical kinetics (I), (II), interfacial phenomena, colloids and polymers. This book can serve as a textbook for physical chemistry courses in chemistry programs of science disciplines, as well as a reference for related disciplines in higher normal universities and engineering colleges.
