Features: Welcome to the 8th Edition of swine diseases! The editorial board of this edition aims to: 1. Provide useful materials for the rapidly changing and explosive knowledge and technology in the field of swine diseases and pig farming today. 2. Select outstanding authors who can achieve the above goals. 3. Make this book more practical for users. 4. Continue to uphold the fine traditions established by Professor Howard Dunne of Pennsylvania State University in 1958, as he laid the foundation for our ongoing efforts in the first four editions of this book. The 8th edition introduces new chapters, new authors, and revisions to some major chapters. These changes represent the efforts of the editors to achieve the above goals, while also reflecting the continuous expansion and increasing responsibilities in the field of veterinary medicine and its practice. For the editors, the most important thing is to select authors. With the continuous increase in new knowledge and the emergence of new experts, it is difficult to make decisions when changing authors. In some cases, this means that some respected elders in the same field are replaced by scientists and veterinary workers who are less well-known but are working at the forefront of veterinary research and production. Finding information in such a large and comprehensive book can be time-consuming, so the chapters in Parts 2–4 of this book are arranged in alphabetical order according to their titles (except for 3 chapters due to changes made in the later stages of writing). Special thanks are given to all authors who worked tirelessly to meet the later deadlines and produced excellent content. Without their selfless dedication, this book would not have been published. The only reward they receive is the pride of being authors of an internationally renowned masterpiece. We sincerely invite the readers of this book to provide more suggestions and opinions for future improvements. Suggestions from students, researchers, veterinary workers, and critics in the past have been adopted by the editorial board. The publisher would like to thank Pfizer Animal Health Group in New York and Merial in London, UK (headquarters location), for their strong support of the full-color printing of this edition.
