Alan grew up in a small town surrounded by a university city. As an outstanding graduate of Harvard, she found a good job in New York, living a fulfilling and rich life. One day, she returned home to visit her middle-aged parents and was told that her mother had cancer. Her father hoped Alan would return home to care for her mother, and Alan reluctantly quit her job and returned to her parents' side. Gradually, the once-distant mother-daughter relationship underwent a subtle change, and she began to see the true side of her family in the past and present. Her mother was not, as she had once believed, weak, timid, or aimless, but a smart and resilient woman. Her mother passed away peacefully, yet Alan was charged with murdering her mother. Did Alan really administer euthanasia to her mother? The story's ending is deeply thought-provoking: after experiencing all the turmoil, Alan finally sees her true inner desires and chooses the life she wants. This is a difficult battle of compromise and redemption, as well as a warm story exploring the profound mysteries of life. It unfolds gently yet carries great meaning, silently telling the invaluable bond of family.
