Features: The Classic Cases of Core Competencies of Famous European Enterprises is a newly published book in China that specializes in introducing and elaborating on the theory and practice of core competencies of famous Asian enterprises. Core competencies, also known as core capabilities, were proposed by the renowned American management scholars Prahalad and Hamel in 1990. They argued that with the development and changes in the world and the strengthening of global economic integration, competition among enterprises would gradually intensify, and the life cycle of products would also correspondingly shorten. The success of enterprises would no longer be attributed to accidental product development or spontaneous market strategies but rather to the external manifestation of their core competencies. They believed: "Only the ability that makes competitiveness stand out can be called core capability." To meet the needs of theoretical research and practical work, and to help readers understand the current state of core competencies of enterprises abroad, especially in Europe, so that they can better cultivate their own core competencies, we followed the quality requirements of "clearly explaining concepts, presenting original viewpoints, convincingly interpreting principles, focusing on practical methods, and ensuring a balanced and hierarchical structure." Through a process of "topic construction, data collection, refining outline viewpoints, drafting, and revision and approval," we completed the compilation of this book in nearly half a year. Adhering to the principle of emphasizing both theory and practice, as well as integrating cutting-edge and foundational knowledge, this book primarily explores the concept, characteristics, construction, and enhancement of core competencies, providing an in-depth analysis of the core competencies of 20 famous European enterprises. It includes both theoretical elaborations on the general principles of core competencies and detailed introductions to practical methods. Additionally, to facilitate readers' further study, research, and application, we have listed references at the end of the book as supplementary reading materials. Through these efforts, we have shaped the current quality and character of this book. Starting from the concept of core competencies and how to construct and enhance them, this book provides an in-depth and thorough analysis of the current state of core competencies of famous European enterprises. It collects approximately 20 cases, including companies such as Nokia, Nestlé, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Siemens, Shell Group, Ericsson, Volkswagen, SAP, Philips, and Porsche. This book can be used by faculty and students of relevant majors in domestic universities and colleges, as well as by a wide range of enterprises for internal training and self-study for management personnel.
