Features: Zabebu Kōyō was compiled by Danbo Gentetsu. Gentetsu, styled Yirō and styled as Kōtei, was born in the seventh year of the era (1795) and died in the fourth year of the era (1857). He served as a lecturer, supervisor, and held high medical positions such as Fugen and Fuyin at the Shogunate's Medical College. He was one of the authorities of the Han medicine during the Edo period. His other works include Suwen Shao Shi, Shanghan Kōyō, Shanghan Lun Shi Yi, Jin Gui Shu Yi, and Yao Zhi Tong Yi. Zabebu Kōyō consists of forty volumes and over 800,000 words. Its content mainly extracts specialized discussions on internal medicine and miscellaneous diseases from ancient Chinese medical texts, including literature from over 300 sources before the Qing Dynasty. It is divided into five categories: external causes, internal causes, qi and blood, viscera, and the body. It lists seventy-three conditions, including stroke and consumptive diseases, and a total of eighty-five diseases, including associated conditions. The writing style is not uniform, but generally includes (name), (source), (pathogenesis), (pulse and symptoms), (diagnosis), (differentiation), (treatment principles), (treatment methods), (formulas and medications), (prevention), (post-treatment), and (regulation).
