Publish Date: 2003-08-01
Features: This is a reader that combines poetry and calligraphy and painting. The poems are Tang Dynasty poems—outstanding works from the golden age of Chinese poetry development; the calligraphy and paintings are masterpieces created by contemporary renowned calligraphers and painters based on the poems. The important characteristics of Chinese poetic and painting art, such as "Poetry and painting are of the same nature, with the craftsmanship of heaven and the freshness of spring," and "Poetry contains painting, and painting contains poetry," can be glimpsed in this book. It reflects the common artistic pursuit of Chinese poets and Lü Guoquan. When two arts are combined perfectly, they can embody the higher value of both. The editor compiled this book with this purpose in mind. To provide readers with a beautifully combined reader of poetry, annotations, calligraphy, and painting, the editor selected "Excerpts of Famous Calligraphers and Painters on Tang Dynasty Poetry." After reviewing the poems and the corresponding calligraphy and paintings created based on them, the editor selected the best pieces to include in this book. The arrangement of poets and poems follows the order of those not included in the Complete Tang Poems published by Zhonghua Book Company but widely circulated after the publication of the One Thousand Poems. By integrating excellent poems with calligraphy and painting, this book enhances its collectibility and provides readers with excellent spiritual nourishment, which is the editor's original intention.
