Features: To promote the development of rural environmental protection in China and agricultural clean production, reduce and prevent pollution caused by agricultural chemicals such as pesticides and fertilizers, as well as agricultural waste, to facilitate the sustainable development of rural society, economy, and environment, ensure the quality of organic food production and processing, standardize organic food certification, and formulate this standard. This standard is based on the United Nations guidelines on organic food production, processing, labeling, and trade, the basic standards for organic production and processing of the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM), and references relevant organic production standards and regulations from various regions and countries. It is formulated in conjunction with relevant standards in China's agricultural production and food processing industries. This standard is largely consistent with the aforementioned international standards. It sets the basic requirements for producers in organic food production, processing, trade, and labeling, and serves as the fundamental basis for organic food certification by organic food certification bodies in China. This standard was proposed by the Science and Technology Standards Department of the State Environmental Protection Administration (SEPA). The State Environmental Protection Administration's Organic Food Development Center was responsible for drafting this standard. It was approved by the State Environmental Protection Administration on December 25, 2001. The State Environmental Protection Administration is responsible for interpreting this standard.
