Features: To implement the "Environmental Protection Law of the People's Republic of China," the "Water Pollution Prevention and Control Law of the People's Republic of China," the "Marine Environmental Protection Law of the People's Republic of China," the "Air Pollution Prevention and Control Law of the People's Republic of China," and the "Solid Waste Pollution Prevention and Control Law of the People's Republic of China," to strengthen the emission control of pollutants from the citric acid industry, protect human health, and maintain ecological balance, this standard has been formulated. This standard has the following characteristics: 1. It applies to the management of water pollutant emissions, air pollutant emissions, noise pollution control, and solid waste treatment and disposal in citric acid industrial enterprises; 2. It determines the emission standard values for water pollutants in citric acid industrial enterprises based on clean production processes and treatment technologies in the citric acid industry; 3. It specifies the emission standard values for water pollutants from existing emission sources in different time periods; 4. The water pollutant emission standards in this standard are not classified. This standard replaces the part of the "Comprehensive Discharge Standard for Wastewater" (GB8978-1996) for water pollutant emissions from the citric acid industry upon implementation. This is the first issuance of this standard. This standard was proposed and supervised by the Science and Technology Standards Department of the State Environmental Protection Administration. The China Research Academy of Environmental Sciences and the Light Industry Environmental Protection Research Institute were responsible for drafting this standard. The State Environmental Protection Administration approved this standard on January 18, 2004. The State Environmental Protection Administration is responsible for interpreting this standard.
